A specially-formulated basic coated electrode for surfacing application where there is abrasion due to rolling friction. The electrode can be applied directly to any steel with a carbon content up to 0.45%. For higher carbon and alloy steels, apply a soft intermediate layer of WIPWELD 16.
Highly recommended for surfacing and rebuilding of ropeway rollers and rail frogs, rail ends, steel mill wobblers, idlers, etc.
Use DC+ or AC, minimum 70 OCV. Use absolutely dry electrodes only. Electrodes with incomplete coating should be discarded. Also keep the arc as short as possible. Preheating of the parent metal not less than 200-degree celsius is recommended whenever its carbon contents exceed 0.30 percent
